VIENNA — Vienna-based development studio Rocketbike ARVR is set to release a new VR web browsing platform, booom VR.

Booom VR is a VR and 3D content aggregation platform that provides a real-time view of the virtual web that encompasses content from social media, news feeds and other sites, presenting it in an easy to use interface.

The developers noticed that although there was a growing supply of VR content, practical tools and applications were lacking. One of the biggest problems they found was surfing the web in VR, which can be a complicated and somewhat broken experience.

According to Co-founder Patrick Esteves, being in VR can make users feel disconnected, so the team at Rocketbike ARVR wanted to improve the VR web browsing experience.

“Mobile tech has made us so accustomed to always having the internet at our fingertips, yet in VR, this element was missing,” Esteves says. “Booom VR solves this problem by grabbing all your favorite VR and 3D content off the web and allows you to access it in real time, within any interactive VR environment.”

“It provides seamless VR content browsing,” Esteves adds, “just like we do on our phones and computers.”

Esteves notes that booom VR also allows brands and content providers to deliver their own VR content via branded channels and interactive virtual environments, including through white label solutions for creating custom, branded VR applications.

A press conference and pre-release party will take place on February 20 at the VREI Virtual Reality Café in Vienna, where Esteves, along with Sean Earley and Mig Marn, will explain the features and capabilities of booom VR and offer an outlook on future development.

All visitors will have the opportunity to test booom VR on site and to surf the web in VR.

Booom VR is set to launch a beta version for Oculus Rift in early March 2017.
